OMEGA-3

Preserve your health and beauty by choosing the right fish oil

Not all types of fat are harmful to our health. Omega-3 fatty acids are an example of useful fats: they reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, arthritis, skin dryness and improve the condition of hair and nails. Unfortunately, our body is not able to produce them on its own, therefore we need to get them from food.

There are three main Omega-3 fatty acids with DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) being the most valuable and are found in fish.

The third one, known as alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is found in vegetable oils, flaxseed, walnuts and dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach.

Fatty fish such as anchovies, salmon, herring, river trout, sardines, and tuna are rich in DHA and EPA.

If you do not like fish and/or you do not have the opportunity to consume it regularly, then you can get the required amount of Omega-3 from special dietary supplements, after consulting your health care professional. Read the instructions carefully to understand the amount and type of Omega-3 contained in the nutritional supplement, as the qualitative and quantitative composition affects its effectiveness.

It has been proven that the beneficial effective dose of Omega-3 is 840 mg per day which is the amount contained in 1 BioPure Max Omega-3 capsule – helping preserve the normal function of the heart, brain and eyes. [11]

Who can benefit from Omega-3?

Suffering from heart disease

People with heart disease are advised to take 840 mg of Omega-3 per day. Omega-3 should also be taken by patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction, as studies have shown that Omega-3 reduces the number of repeated heart attacks and prolongs patients’ lives. [12]

Restoration of cardiac rhythm

Fatty acids also have a stabilizing effect on the heart - they reduce the heart rate and prevent arrhythmias. [12]

Decrease of triglycerides

Omega-3 can lower elevated triglyceride levels, which are directly related to cardiovascular disease. However, before taking any Omega-3 supplement, you should consult a health care professional. [12]

Beneficial effect on rheumatoid arthritis

Studies have shown that fatty acids may reduce pain and stiffness in joints in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Foods rich in Omega-3 may increase the effect of anti-inflammatory drugs. [6,8,14,15]

Preserving the elasticity of the skin

Omega-3 supplements may slow the biological effect of aging. Omega-3 fatty acids lower chronic inflammation, thus prevent collagen to collapse and slow down the aging process. People suffering from eczema and psoriasis, have noted the improvement of their skin while taking Omega-3. As a result of Omega-3 acids action, the elastic collagen base of the skin ceases to break and is gradually restored, allowing the skin to retain its elasticity and healthy appearance. [15,16]
